Hey, I believe that ferrets are members of the skunk family, and so can produce a nasty smell when they feel in danger or threatened, which makes sense because that is probably the reaction caused when you stepped on him. Hi there, I have a lovely eighteen month old Cairn Terrier, who for some reason keeps gnawing on his back legs? He has had all the necessary injections, and had his booster jab last week, and so I believe that he is protected against mange, although I realise that there are probably a few varieties of this condition! I'm sorry that your cat died, I know how that feels having lost many pets in the past including my dog very recently. However, I feel that blaming this website is slightly unjust. No offence to you, but perhaps you should have taken the cat to the vet rather than consult a website if you knew that the cat was dying, because very little can be done over the internet, and vets are not miracleby Charley - Ask The Vet
