Hey, I believe that ferrets are members of the skunk family, and so can produce a nasty smell when they feel in danger or threatened, which makes sense because that is probably the reaction caused when you stepped on him. I am not a vet though so don't quote me on this! It is just something I am vaguely aware of through having a general interest in animals. I hope your ferret is ok! They are brilliant animals!
