Bump in cat's tail

Bump in cat's tail

My cat that adopted us about 2 years ago has had a bump in the tail. All of a sudden the bump started to grow and it appears like a tumor. I took him to the vet and he said the tail needs to be amputated. I would like to avoid this trauma for the cat. Just an x-ray was done where I could also see an old fracture (maybe) and it is acting up. I would like a treatment rather than amputation. Any suggestions?

Hi Monica

Whilst I understand you want to avoid trauma for your cat, if there really is a risk that this is a tumour you should take your vet's advice and let them amputate the tail. I can promise you that a cat manages fine without a tail. If you dont trust your vet's judgement or the diagnosis then I can only suggest you seek a second opinion from another vet before any decision.
