I would like to know if anyone has a good remedy for stiff limbs in a dog.

My dog is very healthy however I have noticed that his back legs dont have the spring in them they did have. He is not too bothered by this and he is quite good for his age 13 years he is crossed staff maybe lab not sure i bought him as a staff but he is much too large. I have seen remedies on the internet costing about 35 pound for 35 days these remedies include glucosamide and other ingredients. I give his cod liver oil has anyone got any other remedies.

Hi, Ginny111,
Hind leg stiffness is very common in older dogs of the larger breeds - labradors, GSDs etc., as a rersult of arthritis in the hips.
I personally find Glucosmine + Chondroitin to be useful in the longer term, but your vet may be able to help with an NSAID ( non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug)
Acupuncture has also been shown to help in some cases.

My dog has had a 5 week course of injections which has helped, if your dog doesn't have a micro chip you could try a magnetic collar. We have found some good supplments inc Glucosmine(Flexi Joints), similar to adult remedies.
