hi, 3 days ago i found a painful lump on my female gsd left side on her ribs it hurts to touch it and she seems subdued. we are taking her to vets tommorrow but wondered if any one had any thoughts what it might be, thanks bev

If it is painful and she is subdued, it is more likely to be a developing abscess - either from a bite or an infected sebaceous cyst. Either should respond well to treatment.

Hi bev, I am interested as to what your vetinary surgeon said about the lump. My boxer dog had a similar lump which burst and has left her with a patch where the hair hasnt grown back. look forward to hearing from you
