can i be a vet??
March 20, 2009 08:41PM
Hi,
I am nearly 18 now and have decided i would like to become a vet. i got a C in double science at school and i am on my second year of a national diploma in animal management. I am achieving distinction at every assignment i complete. i have spoken to my tutor and she said that i could do a biology degree for a year and transfer to the veterinary course. Is a diploma enough to get on the degree?
im a bit confused on how to go about it?
any help appreciated?

thanks

Hi,
Amy,

I think that you will have a struggle to get into a UK veterinary school with only a C in double science. As far as I know most of them look for A or A* grades in Chemistry and Biology, and possibly a B in Physics or maths.

What you need to do is to write to the Admissions Secretary at the vet school of your choice and ask them directly.

I assume that you know where the 6 UK veterinary schools are located?
