I am a new grad vet wondering if there is any way of working as a vet in west coast Wales/ Ireland without having to be on a weekend rota due to unavoidable family resposabilities which have arisen through my years in vet college. All the jobs I find advertized have a weekend rota, and as a new grad I don't think I would be taken on as a locum anywhere, and even if I would be willing to work all the week nights, I don't think practices would understand and let me work without being on the weekend rota

Am I doomed to never find a vet job, after all my life in college?

Hi,
Some practices do farm out their night and weekend work to emergency cover practices, and if you managed to get a job in one of those you would be OK, but I think they tend to be in urban rather than country practices, and 100% small-animal ones at thst.
