(please ignore previous post I made a mistake I want to be a vet nurse not surgeon...at least for now. sorry and thanks)

Hello,

I am 21 years old and I am almost finished completing a BA hons degree in English Literature......but, I have ALWAYS wanted to be a vet but have always been put off by family saying it wasn't viable or i couldn't do it as I was always only average at Science based subjects. But, feeling determined I want to know if there's any chance of me getting a job as a veterinary nurse

I have 3 A levels in English Literature - B grade, Philosophy C grade and Psychology D (i know these aren't great)

and 10 GCSES A*-C inc A in English, B in Maths and CC in Double science

I'm on target to get a 2:1 BAhons degree next year.

I've worked in kennels for 1 year and also just had an interview for Battersea dogs home in the informations department which includes office work, animal handling but mostly distributing information about how to look after animals and keep them as healthy as possible and preventing animal abuse which I am really hopeful I will get.

Where do I start on becoming a veterinary nurse? Would it be NVQ level or do I have any other options?

Thank you very much for any info you can provide me with

Hi,
You should contact Libby Earle at the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for more advice than I can offer you.
In the meantime, if any VN reading this is able to give Arah Louise any help, pleas do so.
