Hi there! I'm a vet student from Portugal and have to do a presentation about an immunology study related to malaria - a mice study about IL-15 action in it.

Well my actual doubt is: is there malaria in animals? Which ones does it affect? Are they important in veterinary practice?

Googling a bit I only found evidencies of any veterinary importance of plasmodium in birds...

To the best of my knowledge no animals in the UK suffer from plasmodium infections.
Maybe any microbiologist reading this may be able to advise you.
