It appeared to clear up fine.

11 days ago we noticed the second dose of wet tail... Back to the vets for an injection and orally administering antibiotics via a syringe twice daily. We have seen limited improvements. However he has over the last 48 hours started to make the odd very erratic movements in between the hours and hours he spends sleeping.

Is this an indication that the old age/stress/wet tail combination is just getting too much or could there be another issue that should involve going back to the vets for?

The thing I can't discern is if this is just if they accidentally consume it, or if its even dangerous to share an environment. As a precaution my plan would be to ensure he doesn't have access to my bedroom or the bathroom, but would this be enough to ensure I'm not putting him at risk?

Re: A Question About Hyperthyroid cat and felimazole

My question is also regarding felimazole and vomiting. We started the treatment ( 2 times 2.5 mg) for my 13 years old cat about two weeks ago and everything seemed fine. Then two nights ago he began to throw up repeatedly. He throw up several times that night (after some vocalizing) mainly what seemed like saliva. In the morning I fed him without the pill, and he ate and seemed fine. But later on that evening he threw up again, and then again this rmorning (basically he threw up both meals I gave him). I haven't given him back his medication yet, as I worry he might get even worse, and would prefer to first talk to my vet (which takes us to tomorrow Monday). Is that a bad call? If it is the medicine that makes him throw up, would he still be throwing up two days after I stopped giving it to him?

Wobbly cat after sleeping

Hi

A week ago my 12 year old ginger tom came to me and flopped down at my feet. My first though was that he had fallen off the bed and hurt his left from paw. His front paw was all stiff and after rubbing it a bit he seemed all better. 2 days later he was sleeping on the bed and became agitated and jumped off the bed. His back legs were weak and he was floppy, but could still walk. We rushed him to the emergency vet who checked him over thoroughly. He found nothing wrong with him, with only a slight agitation reaction( pulls his fur up when touched) on his lower back. But this is completely normal for him. Another 2 days later, he did it again. Again he was sleeping and struggled to get up. Takes him a minute and he is back to normal. We took him to our local vet who suggests it might be seizures and therefore probably a brain tumour. So right now, it's wait and see to see how it progresses and whether we should send him to see a specialist and have an MRI done. He has no other symptoms. Eating/drinking normally. No weight loss. Indoor cat, so no access to anything harmful.

The local vet said it was probably seizures if it seems to affect his cognance. But I was watching him this evening when it happened again. He had been sleeping all afternoon. His tail curls a little, like in the shape of a question mark. He tries to get up, but his legs are slow to respond. He seems resigned to the fact and seems to just wait it out. He is fully responsive while it is happening and even purrs and responds to touch with head nudges. He was even playful and batted at a passing ant, which to me suggests it's not a painful experience.

So if it's not seizures, what could the other possibilities be?
Tx
MPB

Within 20 minutes my yorkie was unable to walk, and was salivating hugely. We stayed up with him overnight, and 10 hours later he is still a bit groggy, but still has colic.
Enlarged heart and possible seizures

Hello,

I have a three-year old male cat who I was told had a heart murmur when I adopted him. He was healthy until about four months ago, when he had his first "attack." He vomited, began breathing very heavily, panting and lost control of his bowel movements. It didn't appear that he ever lost consciousness although he eyes did look "off." We took him to a vet who ran various tests and x-rays and concluded that he had an enlarged heart and put him on enalapril every day. Since then, the seizures or "attacks" have been getting more frequent, although sometimes less severe. He is usually fully recovered within the hour- eating, drinking, using the liter box, snuggling. He seems completely healthy other than these episodes. Does this diagnosis seem correct? Is there something more I can be doing? We will try anything

His eye was dropping and sunken so far in. We went to the vet and got all of the medicine needed and treated him. Well it looks great now he is completely healed in his eyes but he has gained some sort of blood blister on his lip. This does not look like a pimple at all. It doesn't even bother him it's just not really pleasant for me to look at and I don't know if it's dangerous. Can anyone help me with what this is?
Re: What's wrong with my cat?

My kitten has been sitting weird for the past day and a half. She will lay on her front paws like normal, but sit on her hind legs like she is ready to pounce. She kind of grunts every second or so but still purrs normally and with meow at me normally. There is a wetness near her tail that she tries to keep clean, and will lick fairly regularly. When she sits or lays down, she will start sitting normally then sit higher on her paws. I am thinking it might be constipation or a uti. Is there any way I can help her because we can't get to the vet till the morning.

Calcium supplements

Hi, my dog is Alaskan Malamute, 9 months old. Our Vet had a suspicion for panosteitis, but it was proven wrong with blood test. Vet insists on calcium supplements, but ratio of calcium and phosphorus in blood is good. Is she right? Or more calcium could make puppy's condition worse?
Thank you

Discomfort After Fecal Exam?

Aloha!
My cat just got back from a vet visit about 8 hours ago, and he got his first rod fecal exam since he was a kitten, he is now 5 years old. (I used to live where the vet would come to me, so I always had fresh samples for my old vet.) He has been absolutely RESTLESS since we got home, and won't sit down for more than a few seconds at a time, and when he lies down he's now constantly repositioning like he is unable to get comfortable. I'm wondering if this is normal discomfort after a fecal exam with the rod (as this is very abnormal for him) or if I should be concerned.

Either way, in the future I think I'm going to insist on bringing samples for this new vet rather than put him through this again.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
-Rain

Cat rash

My adult male cat has a rash on his chin. The area is red, inflamed, and swollen/bulbous, also the fur is thinning out around that area. He does not want anyone to touch the rash area and scratches it occasionally. He used to be an outdoor cat until two years ago, but he kept getting hurt so now he stays inside. Until about two months ago we had an old dog living with us who had become incontinent from old age and as an unfortunate result out carpets were really unhygienic, soaked in urine, for a few months. Finally my dad was able to put the dog down at his ripe old age and get the carpets cleaned and replaced. I'm worried that these conditions may have caused this skin leisure, even though it has appeared sometime after the carpets were cleaned. I'm sorry if I'm over sharing but I'm really worried about my cat and if anyone could give a few possible diagnosis and maybe some ideas to help alleviate any pain or discomfort for my cat until I can afford to take him to a vet at the end of the month, I'd really appreciate it.
